The Grange<\/strong><\/a> is a family-oriented nation-wide fraternal organization that promotes harmony and cooperation among all persons interested in elevating and enhancing community betterment, family values, education, our food and fiber production system, legislation and a better way of life for all.<\/p>\n

The heart and soul of every local Grange is community service. Through strong local leadership and innovation, the Grange contributes to a stronger and better way of life for all Americans. No project is too big or too small. Grangers rally together to get the job done.<\/p>\n

Turkey Hill Grange has a long and proud history. Turkey Hill Grange was chartered in 1874 with nineteen members and quickly grew to 117 members just six years later.\u00a0 Turkey Hill Grange is the largest and most progressive Grange in the State of Illinois, including 4th and 5th generation descendants of some of\u00a0our charter members.<\/p>\n

In early days, Turkey Hill Grange met in members\u2019 homes, but\u00a0we have had a Grange Hall since 1885, when the first Hall was built on one acre of land donated by a founding member for a school and Grange Hall. The first Hall was destroyed in 1904 by fire and the second one was removed in 1936 due to\u00a0excessive needed\u00a0repairs.\u00a0We have been in the current Grange Hall at the same location since 1937.<\/p>\n

Meetings<\/h3>\n

Turkey Hill Grange normally meets the second Friday of each month at 7:00pm.
\nExecutive board meetings are the Tuesday before the Grange meeting, also at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n

A program begins the meeting, with the Grange business meeting following the conclusion of the presentation.
\nRefreshments follow the conclusion of the meeting in the dining room.<\/p>\n

    Community Outreach and Involvement<\/h3>\n

    Turkey Hill Grange was instrumental in developing Belleville\u2019s Old Town Market which runs on Saturday mornings from May through October.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Grange has a booth where Grange members can sell their wares, keeping 75% of what they sell for themselves and they\u00a0give the Grange 25%.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We also\u00a0sell jams, jellies and apple butter which all are\u00a0homemade recipes from our\u00a0members. We sell 1000 jars of jam and jelly a year, and we sold 100 pints of apple butter in just 2 weeks!\u201d<\/p>\n

    Our Youth<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Grange is instrumental in growing the next generation of community members and leaders.\u00a0 We sponsor a local 4-H Club and the area’s first American Heritage Girls troop.\u00a0 These groups are able to have free use of the hall to hold meetings and host activities.<\/p>\n

    Partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The best way to give back to your community is to join forces in numbers.\u00a0 We have built lasting partnerships with civic groups and organizations to support and give back.\u00a0\u00a0We assist the City of Belleville by sponsoring the Annual Easter Egg hunt in the park.<\/p>\n

    Scholarship Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Turkey Hill Grange has\u00a0established a Foundation to raise money for scholarships.\u00a0 Throughout the year we hold various fundraisers to support this effort.\u00a0\u00a0Graduating students have the opportunity to submit an essay\u00a0and tell us where they see themselves in\u00a0five years.\u00a0\u00a0Three scholarships are awarded from the submissions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
